The spring line of M. Clifford Designs is featuring chain accents from the PONO jewelry line.  PONO was created in 2003 by two sisters, Joan Goodman and Barbara Barnett.  PONO, the Hawaiian word for goodness in all its forms, features jewelry created with non-conventional items such as horn, wood, metal, shell, and Italian resin.  Celebrity fans of this line include Beyonce, Paris Hilton, and Hilary Swank to name a few.

This new take on The Terrell by M. Clifford Designs features a lambskin bag with a matte black PONO chain.  Pair this classy black bag with almost any outfit but look how good it looks against bright colors!

Pair either Grace bag with the outfit below but  if you opt for the camel colored PONO chain make it stand out with some gold jewelry and a bright color.

The Clutch-Still the Bag of Choice

Clutch purses have long been an elegant and popular choice among women beginning from the Victorian era.  During WWII clutches were among one of the only choices for women due to rationing that made women simplify their lives and use less materials. Today, clutches are still a number one pick for women looking to carry less “bag” while still looking fashionable.  Clutches add the perfect touch to any outfit including jeans and a blouse to an evening out. Charlotte designer Emily Morgen has amazing dresses and tops that go perfect with our clutches.

The Olivia in vintage gold is the perfect contrast to the colors in Emily Morgen’s Batwing top in brown snake. The Batwing top for $169 is shown with The Mavi Black Paris Jegging for $88, both available at The Pink Hanger.

Bring out the blue in this Emily Morgen dress by accessoring it with The Lana in Blue and the Steve Madden Caryssa Pump in gold glitter  for a dressy occasion or some booties for an everyday look.

The neckline detail on this Emily Morgen LBD makes it a perfect standout against other black dresses. Pair this black dress with a shiny clutch like The Elizabeth in silver metallic Le Rif. The elongated shape of The Elizabeth makes it unique from other clutches, perfect to go with your standout LBD.   You don’t need a necklace with the collar of this dress, instead pair it with some dramatic earrings like the Suzanna Dai Copenhagen Earring in champagne for $175.

The (Un)Official Start of Summer

Memorial day weekend is practically here, which, to most, means the unofficial kick off to the summer season.  (Or is it official?)  One look that seems to never go out of style are nautical-inspired outfits.  Don’t they just seem to go  synonomous with summer?  We went to local Charlotte boutique, chezElle, located in the Sterling Morrison Shopping center near Southpark, to find some nautical looks to match our perfect summer bucket bag, “The Cyd.”

One nautical look you can work with are knots.  Love this Mara Hoffman knot dress $285.  Style it with this Elegantly Waisted belt $88, to give a break to the pattern.  And add a  pop of color with this Pam Hiran Necklace $162, also knot-like on its own.  This outift goes perfect with our Cyd bag in blue!

Nothing says summer like a light-weight crisp white shirt.  This oversized PJK blouse is perfect $96.  Put it together with the ultimate nautical look: Stripes.  Love the different directions of the stripes on this Cynthia Steffe skirt $148.  Layer on those necklaces!  First, this beautiful Jan Michaels marble necklace $64, and then add a pendant, like this Susan Snow gold necklace $42.  Try our Cyd in yellow for that pop of color!

Go for a more casual look with this Rory Beca striped dress $250.  The necklace by Yosca, $255, reminds me of the summer sun!  Match it with our Cyd bucket in brown!

Some other things we loved at chezElle were this Susan Shaw Fleur-de-lis Necklace $74 and this beautiful Stone Ring $136.

Tell us a little about yourself: name, age, occupation

Morgan Walker, 25, Stylist at Capitol and a Painter

How would you describe your personal style?

A little bit of everything… Chic Bohemian Artist

Who is your style icon?

Ashley Olsen, Alexa Chung, Sienna Miller

What is your must have for the summer?

My Ray Bans, my light weight yellow green Bajra shawl that I wear with any and everything (even if it does not match), sundresses, sundresses, sundresses (they are taking over my closet) and gladiator sandals.

What are your thoughts on Charlotte stye?

I feel like most women here in Charlotte dress very feminine and southern.  I also see many who are not afraid to be fashion forward which is nice to see in a southern city.

Favorite places to shop?

Capitol and Poole Shop (our sister store) of course, and I always find great summer throw ons at Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters. I am not limited to any store. I love hidden treasures such as Hong Kong on Central Ave. to make my style more eclectic.

What m.clifford handbag do you have?

The Mini Megs in Brown.

How does your m.clifford handbag work in with your personal style?

It has a bohemian look while being functional at the same time.  I think the supple brown leather gives it a vintage feel, and the shape of the bag allows it to be very accessible.

What do you like about your m.clifford handbag?

I love the shoulder strap. Somehow I throw everything I own in my handbag, and it ends up being a hundred pounds. I also love the option of having the handles if I want them. And who doesn’t love some extra pockets on the outside of their bag?

Black & White = Forever Classy

It seems you can never go wrong with black and white; they always match, never go out of style, and its just a classic look.  It also gives you freedom to really express yourself through accessories.  One color that really pops is yellow.  For a more fashion forward look, try using black and white patterns.  Need some inspiration?  Here we styled our Garbo small leather hobo with some items from Sloan Boutique in the Dilworth area of Charlotte, NC.

This Diane von Furstenberg dress ($365) is perfect for this time of year (so light and flowy) and the bag really adds the perfect amount of contrast!

You’ll look extra chic in separates.  Try a patterned top, like this R jean tank ($84) with a solid bottom, like this Trina Turk skirt ($176).  Top off the look with a long necklace.  This necklace by Kendra Scott ($110) is perfect.  I love how our yellow Garbo looks against a crisp white skirt!

Right upstairs from Sloan is it’s shoe parlor, fittingly named Step.  Grab some new sandals for your look, too.

Love these Baldan Wedges ($498).  Or for something a little more casual, go for these sandals by Pour la Victoire ($220).
